At HPCG, I edit, design, and write articles for the agency's quarterly newsletter (print and electronic), with a combined readership of 10,000+ donors and supporters. I also produce several other newsletters throughout the agency. View a few samples here:

Press Releases and Media Placements
I am experienced in writing newsworthy articles, interviewing sources, following AP style, and producing effective press releases. I have helped HPCG gain exposure in several local publications and media outlets. View a sample press release here.
Blogging and Web Copy
At Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro (HPCG), I create monthly posts for the agency's Caregiver's Blog. The purpose of this blog is to provide information, resources, and support to those caring for or grieving a loved one. Often this involved collaborating with and ghostwriting for clinical team members. Follow the links below to read a sampling of my blog posts:

Grant Writing
I wrote (with one other team member) the following grant proposal for the Cincinnati nonprofit organization, Obz Design. The proposal asks for over $60,000 for Obz Design's healthcare project in Nicaragua. Because the funder, the GE Foundation, does not accept unsolicited proposals, this grant proposal is formatted as a letter of inquiry. We recently submitted the letter and are waiting for a response about submitting a full proposal.
Previous grant writing experience: I also won a competitive research grant from the Wittenberg Student Development Board totaling $2,400. For this grant project, I worked on crafting a young adult historical fiction novel, and gained valuable experience writing persuasive grant proposals.

Journal Editing
During my undegrad career at Wittenberg University, I served as Editor-in-Chief of the university fine art journal, The Wittenberg Review of Literature and Art, which publishes the best of student poetry, fiction, creative nonfiction, plays, and artwork. As Editor-in-Chief, I budgeted resources, allocated staff duties, sent out submission requests, recruited staff members, coordinated with the printing company, promoted the journal, read and chose published submissions, and organized the content into an attractive printed journal.
I also served as Layout Designer for the Review, organizing and designing the 90+ page journal in Adobe InDesign. Please view my Document Design page to see samples of my design work for the Review, including the covers seen here.
I also served for two years on the Spectrum editorial board, editing and discussing submissions of nonfiction essays for the printed journal.

Science Writing
During my internship with UC's Engineering Department, I wrote and designed research synopses to highlight each of the professor's research on the website. Here is a sample of one of the 30 professor "splash pages" I created. The most challenging part of this project was digesting the very technical content to make them more accessible for graduate student recruiting purposes.
Critical Analysis
While attaining my BA in English, I wrote many analytic essays requiring a refined critical eye, primary and secondary research, and advanced writing skills. Here is a sample essay from one of my advanced English courses. I eventually turned this essay into my senior honors thesis.
